Adding new customers and vendors can be a time-consuming task – especially when the same settings need to be entered manually each time. But there’s a smarter way to simplify the process in Business Central, especially if you're using Swebase.
Did you know you can combine Business Central’s customer and vendor templates with Swebase standard templates? Together, they help you create a more efficient and consistent workflow – perfect for saving time and reducing errors.
Here's how it works:
1. Create a template in Swebase
Go to Swebase Setup > Standard tab. Here, you can create a customer and a vendor template – for example, name them “TEMPLATE”.
2. Blocked the Template
In the Blocked field, enter the value "All" to lock the card and preserve it as a template.

3. Set default document layouts
In the Customer Template, you can define default layouts for sales orders, invoices, credit notes, and reminders. These settings will automatically apply when you create a new customer.

4. Preconfigure bank settings
In the vendor template, you can prepare the bank account setup – for example, create a bank card named LB and set the Giro Type to PAIN001 for vendor payments. These settings are inherited when a new vendor is created.

By using templates in this way, you create a streamlined, efficient, and consistent process – every time.
